Some signs that my 4-year-old is growing up way too fast:
Eagerly braving icy lake water to sit on a jet ski, just like Daddy.
Offering to roll our 32-gallon garbage bin in from the curb--and doing it successfully, no sweat.
Tenderly calling her little sisters "darling" even as she orders them around and gets frustrated when they do not obey her.
Saying, "No thanks, I'll tuck myself in," when I attempt to snuggle her blankets around her at night.
All those things I managed to take in stride, but I just about swerved off the road and killed us all when she called to me from the back seat yesterday: "I'm interested in sex!"
"What?" I said.
"I'm interested in insects!" she repeated.
"Oh...yep. Insects sure are interesting," I replied.
At least she's not growing up that fast.

SO funny. My 4 y/o is interested in...um.. BUGS right now too. She smashed a really big fly (with my phone) and now she's obsessed with them.
I went to kindergarten roundup last night for her. I almost cried during the orientation video. Wasn't she just born?
What a wise mama you are to ask "what?" before answering! Often clarifying the question is a big help.

J.D. and I were listening to an audio story the other day and it said the man got a strange feeling in his tummy when he kissed the girl. Nothing more, just a little comment and, of course, he marries the girl. But J.D. asks me "why would his tummy feel strange?" Umm...Umm...
I would be glad to give Beth some mealworms since she is so interested in in-sects.
